A WORD ABOUT IMAGES FROM A SACRED PERSPECTIVE
I recieved a MA in TRANSFORMATIVE ARTS & CONSCIOUSNESS and have a life-time of study in esoteric traditions as well as traditional religions, and 12 years working with shamans from all over the world.
I have taught art making and community arts for over twenty-five years as well as taught soul transformation groups using psycological, shamanic, and artistic modalities to support soul growth and change.
My special focus over these years has been the study of images; paintings, weaving, decoration, crafts, dolls, clothing etc- and have seen how up until the industrial revolution the entire world made things with INTENTION, CRAFTSMANSHIP & QUALITY.
Images are mass produced now, but that doesn't mean they are without authorship; Someone labored over the creation of it. Sometimes an image (especially the great painters) has a life-time of disciple behind it.
If we use an image without thinking about the orginator or the artist who created it and (at least briefly) look into the image to see why we resonate with it, what calls us, what repeals us, how it stirs us, and perhaps give a silent word of "thanks for making it buckaroo, so I can use it" it can lead to just another easy, fast rip-off.
I encourage the useful respect of these images, as you wish folks to respect the images you are making. In this friendly way, we can stay connected with the ancient artists and each other. CHEERS! MAY ALL THE BEINGS IN ALL THE WORLDS BE HAPPY!
